Netherlands Gets Three Home-Nation Entries at Ahoy
Organisers of the CUPRA Rotterdam Premier Padel P2 have confirmed three wildcard allocations for Dutch pairings ahead of the September 28–October 4 event at Rotterdam Ahoy. Two men's pairs and one women's pair will represent the host nation in the main draw, giving Dutch fans home favourites to cheer on when the tournament opens its main draw gates on September 30 — officially branded Dutch Day by the event's organisers.
The wildcards are: Youp de Kroon / Julian Prins and Sten Richters / Albin Olsson in the men's draw, and Marcella Koek / Steffie Weterings in the women's draw. All three pairs will make their main-draw entries on Dutch Day, facing world-ranked opponents from the opening round.
Coello and Tapia Target an Unprecedented Third Consecutive Ahoy Title
The Dutch wildcards will enter a men's draw dominated, at least in terms of history, by Ale Coello and Edu Tapia. The Spanish–Argentine partnership won the Rotterdam Premier Padel title in both 2024 and 2025, making them the event's most successful pairing. A third consecutive triumph at Ahoy would be unprecedented in the short history of Rotterdam's Premier Padel editions and would deliver a significant boost to their FIP Race to Barcelona standing heading into the final stretch of the season.
The men's main draw accommodates 28 pairs — 22 direct acceptances, four qualifiers and two wildcards — with qualifying rounds from September 27 to 29 before the bracket expands on Dutch Day.
Women's Draw Awaits Its First Back-to-Back Champion
On the women's side, the Rotterdam Ahoy history books offer an interesting footnote: no pair has won the event twice. Sanchez and Josemaria claimed the 2024 title, while Brea and Triay took the honours in 2025. Whoever lifts the trophy on October 4 will become the first pair to do so at this venue — and Koek/Weterings will carry the hopes of a growing Dutch women's base trying to make an impression on home soil.
The women's draw holds 24 pairs: 19 direct acceptances, four qualifiers and one wildcard. Prize money across both draws totals €264,534.
Rotterdam Ahoy and the Road to Barcelona
Rotterdam P2 sits within the Premier Padel calendar rather than the CUPRA FIP Tour, meaning the points allocation differs from events like the concurrent FIP Platinum Lyon. Nonetheless, the Race to Barcelona remains the shared horizon for the top players: 13 spots have already been claimed across men's and women's fields, leaving Barcelona Finals qualification very much in play for those competing at Ahoy next week.
