Third time lucky for Javier Barahona. After losing FIP Gold finals in Perugia and Seville in October, the Spaniard finally lifted a trophy in Turin on Sunday. He and partner Piotto, the top seeds, won the FIP Gold Mediolanum Padel Cup Torino 2026. They beat Pineda and Contreras 6-3, 6-3 in the men's final at the Palavillage, the last FIP Gold tournament of the season.

The women's title went to third seeds López and Fassio. In a tighter final they beat fourth seeds Polo and Domínguez 6-4, 7-6, for their second CUPRA FIP Tour title together in 2026.

Barahona ends his run of final defeats

For Barahona, who is in the top 40 of the FIP ranking, the result ended a frustrating month. According to the International Padel Federation, it was his fourth title on Italian soil on the CUPRA FIP Tour. He gave the credit to his partner straight away.

"After losing two finals, we have finally secured a victory. I have to thank Nacho: he played really well," Barahona said after the match. He dedicated the title to his fiancée, whom he plans to marry next year.

Piotto was just as warm about the partnership. "Playing with Javi is a pleasure. He is not only an incredible player but also a great person," he said.

The top seeds had their toughest moment in the semi-finals. They beat Giuliani Lombardo and Rosingana 6-1 in the first set before needing a tie-break to close out the second. Pineda and Contreras had a much easier semi-final, beating Aragón and Roglán 6-0, 6-3, but they could not keep that level against the favourites in the final. Turin was Barahona and Piotto's second title together.

López and Fassio hold their nerve

The women's event saw an early upset. Top seeds Lucía Sainz and Manquillo lost their semi-final 6-2, 6-2 to López and Fassio, the most one-sided result of the women's final four. In the other semi-final, Polo and Domínguez needed three sets to get past Foguer and Livioni, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.

The final was much closer. According to the FIP, the decisive break of the first set came at 4-4, and López and Fassio then took the second set in a tie-break.

"I am very pleased with the level of our game throughout the tournament," Fassio said. López summed up the afternoon: "We managed to win the title in a very complicated final."

A Gold season closes in Italy

The Turin tournament ran from 27 October to 1 November at the Palavillage and was the final FIP Gold event of 2026. Barahona had come close twice in October, in Perugia and Seville, before finally winning in Turin. For López and Fassio, it was a second success together on the CUPRA FIP Tour in 2026.

With the Gold season over, attention turns to the elite tour. Several of the world's best players are this week at the FIP World Cup in Doha (2–7 November). Premier Padel then returns with the Dubai P1 from 9 to 15 November.
