FIP Race to Barcelona: 13 Qualified, Lyon Next as 19 Spots Remain

Thirteen Players Have Booked Their Barcelona Tickets

The Paris Major at Roland Garros produced its champions — and reshuffled the qualification standings for the FIP Finals in Barcelona (December 10–13) in the process. Following that result, 13 players have accumulated enough points on the FIP Race to guarantee their presence at the 32-player end-of-season showdown: six men and seven women.

On the men's side, Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia lead the standings on 12,620 points after their third consecutive Paris Major title, 1,270 points clear of Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto (11,350). Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger are both on 5,655 points and have also secured their spots. On the women's side, the already-qualified group includes Gemma Triay, Delfi Brea, Beatriz González, Paula Josemaría, Andrea Ustero, Ariana Sánchez, and Claudia Fernández.

That leaves 19 qualification berths still to be decided across a calendar that stretches to late November — 10 for men and nine for women.

Lyon Opens the Next Window: 300 Points on Offer

The next opportunity arrives in four days. The FIP Platinum Lyon, the highest tier of the CUPRA FIP Tour, runs from September 21 to 27 in Lyon and carries 300 FIP Race points for the winning pair. After registering at the last minute, Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz are the top seeds in the men's draw — a pairing that has regularly reached the semi-finals and finals on Premier Padel. Fran Guerrero and Javi Leal are seeded second, while Martín Di Nenno and Juan Tello have reunited as a partnership for the event.

In the women's draw, Alejandra Salazar and Aranzazu Osoro top the field, with Alejandra Alonso and Giulia Dal Pozzo seeded second. Alejandra Galán and Federico Chingotto — the men originally announced as top attraction — will not be competing in Lyon.

For players hovering just outside the qualification zone, Lyon represents a critical moment. Mike Yanguas sits seventh in the men's race on 4,005 points; Stupaczuk is eighth on 3,735. A Lyon title would be worth three-quarters of a FIP Gold event and a significant step towards a Barcelona berth.

The Bigger Calendar: Rotterdam, Düsseldorf, and Two More Majors

Beyond Lyon, the Premier Padel circuit offers the most points. Two more Majors are scheduled — Kuwait and Acapulco (2,000 points each for the winners) — along with Rotterdam P2 (September 28 – October 4) and Düsseldorf P2 (from October 5), each worth 600 Race points. Two P1 events, Milan and Dubai, add 1,000 points each to the equation. A further FIP Platinum event in Aguascalientes plus multiple FIP Gold events round out the CUPRA FIP Tour calendar.

In total, more than 7,200 FIP Race points remain available across both circuits, meaning the standings could shift dramatically before the cut-off. For the players already qualified, the priority becomes protecting their seeds for Barcelona; for the rest, Lyon on Sunday evening could serve as a launchpad for the final push.
