The Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour has barely left Düsseldorf and it is already on court again. The fifth edition of the OYSHO Milano Premier Padel P1 starts its men's main draw today at the Allianz Cloud, with the final scheduled for Sunday, October 18. The storyline is simple: Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto are the defending champions, and Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia arrive in the form of their lives.

Coello and Tapia chase a fourth straight title

The world No. 1s won the Düsseldorf P2 on Sunday, beating Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz 6-2, 7-6 in 1 hour 23 minutes. According to the FIP, it was their 11th title of the season and their third in a row after Paris and Rotterdam. It was also their first win in Germany. "We had never won here, so everything we experienced this week has been special," Coello said after the final.

Milan has history for them too. Coello and Tapia lifted the trophy at the Allianz Cloud in 2024, but lost last year's final to Galán and Chingotto 2-6, 6-3, 6-0, with a bagel in the deciding set. As top seeds, they open against Aris Patiniotis and Diego García or a qualifying pair. Their projected quarter-final is against sixth seeds Francisco Guerrero and Javier Leal.

Chingalán under pressure in the bottom half

Galán has won Milan three times: in 2022 and 2023 with Juan Lebrón, and in 2025 with Chingotto. The second seeds play their first match against the Deus brothers or qualifiers. Their projected quarter-final is against eighth seeds Lijó and Miguel Yanguas.

They arrive with something to prove. In Düsseldorf, Stupaczuk and Sanz knocked them out in the semi-finals, just as they had done in the Rotterdam quarter-finals the week before. Stupaczuk and Sanz, seeded fourth after back-to-back finals in Rotterdam and Düsseldorf, could face Jeronimo González and Lucas Campagnolo in the last eight. Third seeds Lebrón and Leandro Augsburger open against Rubini and Alex Chozas or Quílez and Mouriño. Their projected quarter-final is a heavyweight match against Martín Di Nenno and Francisco Navarro.

Women's draw: Sánchez and Josemaría on a collision course

The women's main draw starts on Tuesday, once the second qualifying round finishes today. Last year's champions, Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría, are defending the title on opposite sides of the net. The FIP describes a potential final between the former partners.

Gemma Triay and Delfina Brea are the top seeds and open against Godallier and Valenzuela or Noa Cánovas and Beatriz Caldera. Josemaría and Beatriz González are seeded second. Sánchez and Andrea Ustero, the Paris Major and Rotterdam P2 champions, are seeded third. Claudia Fernández and Martina Calvo are seeded fourth and come in with the most momentum. On Sunday they beat Sánchez and Ustero 6-3, 6-0 to win the Düsseldorf title, their second as a pair after London. "In Paris, Ari and Andrea played a perfect match; this time, it was our turn," Calvo said.

Coello and Tapia Win Milano P1 Championship

The projected quarter-finals are Triay/Brea vs Marina Guinart/Alejandra Alonso, Sánchez/Ustero vs Alejandra Salazar/Aranzazu Osoro, Fernández/Calvo vs Marta Ortega/Sofía Araujo, and Claudia Jensen/Tamara Icardo vs Josemaría/González.

Home hopes with Doha in sight

For Italy, the week doubles as one of the last checks before the FIP World Padel Cup in Doha, which runs from November 2 to 7. Giulia Dal Pozzo, who reached a historic semi-final at the BNL Italy Major, partners Nuria Rodríguez. In the first round they meet Giorgia Marchetti and Lara Arruabarrena, an all-Italian derby between two players heading to the World Cup together. On the men's side, Flavio Abbate and Alonso Rodríguez face qualifiers this afternoon. Simone Iacovino and Giulio Graziotti take on David Gala and Enzo Jensen.

The top seeds will not appear until the second round. The first match on the Allianz Cloud centre court is at 9:00: Alvaro Montiel and Dani Santigosa against Pol Hernández and Manu Castaño.
