Roland-Garros Takes Centre Stage for Padel's Biggest Saturday
The Alpine Paris Major enters its penultimate act as all four semifinal matches descend on the Philippe-Chatrier court starting at 13:00 on Saturday. The clay surface that has staged half a century of tennis history becomes, for one more day, home to the world's top padel players. Sunday's final spots are on the line, and each of the eight pairs bidding for them has earned their place the hard way.
Women: Triay-Brea Look Unstoppable, but Ortega-Araújo Proved the Field Can Be Shocked
Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea enter the semi-finals on the back of a dominant week. In the quarter-finals on Friday they brushed aside Carolina Orsi and Patty Llaguno 6-0, 6-3 without dropping a single game in the opening set. The pair travel to Paris carrying the momentum of their Madrid P1 triumph last Saturday — their sixth title of the 2026 season — a victory that took their career total to 58 and equalled Alejandra Salazar's all-time record on the Premier Padel Tour. A final berth today would leave them one win from claiming that record outright on Sunday.
Standing between them and a final spot are Claudia Fernández and Martina Calvo, the fourth seeds, who demonstrated considerable mental strength in their quarter-final. After losing the opening set 2-6 against Marina Guinart and Alejandra Alonso de Villa, they produced a composed comeback — 6-2, 6-4 — to reach the last four of a Major for the first time in 2026. The turnaround suggests they can compete under pressure, though the step up to face the world number one pair is of a different order entirely.
The opposite women's semi is the match nobody predicted a week ago. Marta Ortega and Sofía Araújo produced the biggest shock of the tournament on Friday by eliminating second-seeded Paula Josemaría and Bea González in a contest that reportedly stretched beyond three hours and fifteen minutes. According to multiple reports, Ortega-Araújo saved five match points before closing out a dramatic three-set victory. Third seeds Ariana Sánchez and Andrea Ustero await them, having been in fine form themselves: a composed 6-3, 6-2 win over former champion Alejandra Salazar and Aranza Osoro sent a clear message of readiness.
Men: Coello-Tapia vs. Lebrón-Augsburger Is the Match of the Day
The men's draw delivers what padel fans have been waiting for. Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia, the top-ranked men's pair at this event, enter the semi-finals in confident shape after a 6-2, 7-5 demolition of Fran Guerrero and Javier Leal in the last eight. Their opponents, Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger, had a slightly tighter passage against Momo González and Lucas Campagnolo but never looked in real danger, taking the first set 6-3 and the second in a tiebreak 7-6. The two pairs have crossed paths during the 2026 season, adding a layer of rivalry to an already compelling matchup. Coello-Tapia will be looking to underline their top-seed status; Lebrón-Augsburger will argue the draw proves nothing about who is the better pair.
The other men's semi sets Ale Galán and Federico Chingotto against Martín Di Nenno and Paquito Navarro. Galán-Chingotto — seven-time champions in 2026 after their Madrid P1 win — were in no mood for sentiment in the quarter-finals, dispatching Edu Alonso and Aimar Goñi 7-6, 6-2. Di Nenno and Navarro were equally efficient: a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz was composed enough to suggest they have plenty in reserve. Both pairs know each other well and both will enter the court convinced they can reach Sunday's final.
What Happens Next
All four semi-final winners return to Philippe-Chatrier for the final on Sunday, 13 September. From the semi-final stage onwards, matches are broadcast free of charge on Red Bull TV. The order of play places both women's ties first, with the men's semi-finals to follow in the afternoon session on the same court.
